That should be a 15amp. fuse that also serves the washer and heater. All three systems should be checked for shorts. No way should you be smoking wires before the fuse blows unless the fuse block itself is bad. Check out the back of the fuse block for melting, bent or twisted conections and also for forign objects that may be allowing current to flow through the wires, bypassing the fuse.
It may not be visable. Use a multi-tester.

I had it happen.

Say it's the wiper motor circuit, first check that the wiper linkage isn't binding up and causing the motor to over draw/amp. No? OK next check the motor.
This is done at the motor/wiring connector with jumpers. (if you don't have a manual that tells you how to do this i.m. me) The motors are not serviceable and must be replaced.

The original '73 Wiper switch has a green face and has "Wipe Wash" printed on it. It's green because it was illuminated by a remote bulb and fiber optics. It should twist to operate the washers, and pull out for 2 clicks for fast/slow operation

Mine's faded but looks like this:

'64 320
'68 520
'72 521 V6
'74,75,79 620s
'76,78 4X4
'76 KC

'78 B210
