bullet Topic: Dave Turner Header, Any Good?
    Posted: 25 August 2003 at 9:16pm

Hey Guys, I was just out playing with the Dime and out of the blue it starts getting really loud from under the hood. I pulled over only to find that #3 header tube to be complety broken off just at the flange.

I considered removing it and having it welded back on, but this header is already pretty much toasted. Between the two lower tubes being crushed at the collector, to the bad seal, to the rust everywhere.....time for replacement.

Since I am dropping in a L20 soon, I have been looking at a "shorty" header that Dave Turner Motorsports sells. It seems to be decent header and at $150 with extention the price seems pretty good.

Since this is my first Datsun, I'll ask you guys. What you think about this header? Is there another one better from somewhere else for the same price area? I'll need to order it soon because my 510 is my daily-driver.

Thanks for the help!!!

Never been, its on the Top 10 List to do in my life though.

I rent cars in Hawaii though, I am a sales manager in a global rental car call center in central California.

Cable,
Bre620 found this on a site
http://www.classicdatsun.com/new/510.html
I believe its just a Dave Turner header(Trimil is the manuf) Which is coated.

Also the extension you dont have to use cause it necks down to a 1.75 connection.
Most people just hook up to the collector(exhaust shop).
So they can tuck it up nice and neat.

I havent seen this Datsun motorsport one in a photo or anything but the one Dave sells is a nice header but cheap ass paint on there. Will rust.
If the other place has them with the coating thats were I would get it from.

I am temped to go this route, but I have had bad experences with "coatings" flaking off in a years time.

Anyone seen, run, or know if the coating is decent?
