Does anyone know the size of the "big valves" from the 280z one uses when building a head for a 510? Is it 45mm 38mm? I'm putting them in a U67 atop a 2.2 block.
Tanx alot.

they are 44mm...stock U67 ones are 42mm ( intake )
and stock U67 exhaust are 35mm....Z car ones are 38mm
not sure if you can fit both in....I have only the larger 44mm intake and stock 35mm exhaust valves in my U67....and it doesn't look like much room between them.....might work though

I thought the exhaust was 35mm for the later Z cars and 30mm for the 240s
But Top End Performance has stainess steel ones for sale at 14$ apc.
Probably Manley valves.

This is what I did take the 280z intake vales and use them for the intake on your head then take L16 intake vales and us them for the exguast vales it will work because that what I have in my u67 and in two of my A87

After the valves are ready, do you guys take the head to have a professional fit in a new valve seat and grind out the runners? It sounds like a harder job than just porting.

What are the "runners"???? Once the new valve seats were put in, I thought it was just a matter of blending the bowls to meet the larger valve seat size.

Sorry, dur I didn't realize that was your initial post. Yeah, thats the same head Im trying to build up, it doesnt look like there is alot of room to support those 38mm exhausts. I'd like to hear if someone has done done it successfully b4 I go and order the parts. Thanks for your replies.

...maybe if you sink both valves back into the head you would have room, but then your valve length will be all wrong. You'd have to shim up the springs... but then you could shave the head and shim up the cam towers too! Oh, that seems like a lot of work just for a couple mm larger on the exhaust ports. Just buy a 280Z!

oh well, whatever... Nevermind
