Hi guys, I'm new here. I want to make this clear, the Patrol is not mine (it's a customers) although my dad, work mates and I are doing this project and would like to post this here to get some feedback and also help.
I do own 2 Datsuns, that was the main reason I'm here. I have a 71 Datsun pickup and a 75 Datsun 610. I will start working on them sometime this year and post my progress here. One more thing, there are a few low quality pictures taken by cellphone that's because some days I forget my camera at home. Anywho, back to the 67 Patrol. This 4 wheel vehicle came with a inline 6 engine in a non working condition, the owner of the truck wants to lift it a few inches and swap a vk56de engine. the first thing we did was to remove the fenders, crossmember, old engine, transmission, fuel lines, to have the engine bay clear. Then the engine donor came, a 2006 Nissan Titan. We proceed to pull out the engine, wires, harness without breaking or cutting anything. ![]() ![]() We tried to not to cut any wires. ![]() ![]() Once we got everything we needed from the Titan, we tried to allocate the engine in the Patrol. ![]() Engine brackets are now in place, its a little hard to see them. ![]() The firewall had to be cut.Engine is now in place ![]() ![]() The Atlas transfercase arrived, its smaller and performs better than the stock one. ![]() We installed the the transmission, cross member and trasnfer case. ![]() |

Egads, someone's got a lot of money to strip a 1-year old Titan for it's engine.
Interesting concept, though. |

Very cool, always liked those patrols. To my knowledge, you are the only one on the forum with a patrol in possession. Where are you located??
What kinda plans do you have for the axles/brakes, gotta be able to stop all that power.

I always like the Patrols(very popular in Australia)
Unfortunately Patrol parts re more on the rare side here. I heard of people swapping in Landcruiser axles But be honest a 3000$ jeep Cherokee serves my porpose and come with airconditioning ,power steering and I can run it into the BUSHES!!!!!!!and who cares its just one of 2.8 million Cherokees made!!!!!!!! Damn thats a NICE PATROL!!!!!!!!! That transfer case is SWEET |

Oh my gosh...that was awesome!!! You know I've always been told that anything can be done, "all it takes is money". To be so lucky to have the ability to build something like that, is a dream that I don't even try to strive for. Winning the lottery still wouldn't justify me doing something like that...ok maybe it would, I guess I have to start playing the lottery huh? Sweet project, please please please keep us posted.

Sounds like a SEMA builder to me. My buddy dave got a brand new F150 crew cab from Ford for $1, hes a SEMA builder. |

Thank you guys for the comments.
And yes, they get them for 1 buck, but I didn't know they were specificly for SEMA. And back to the project. We had a little problem with the Patrol. the engine and transmission is too long leaving just 5 inches of clearance between the differential and the transfercase. after talking, thinking, figuring out, we decided to cut and extend the frame 2 feet. I didnt like the idea that much but they owner of the truck and my boss wanted and have to. ![]() ![]() Now we are up to date. the Titan stripping and all that on the first post were actually from 2 + months ago. I wont probably update this thread since we got a lot more projects to work on. Again, feedback is always apreciated. |

Wait a minute? Did I just read that the distance between the rear of the transfer case and the front of the rear axle is only 5 inches!!!? Well, that is either a very short rig, or that is a very long transmission and transfercase. If I was in that shop I would of argued to go with a different motor/tranny/transfercase setup and give me that one. I have a pickup so I'm sure it would fit, and I'm sure I would be able to devote the time and money to install a brand new powerplant.
So your'e going to have a rear driveline that is 29inches? How do you plan to account for the severe driveline angles especially if you have any decent lift? High Pinion rear axle? CV rear driveline?
By the way, I played the lottery Wednesday...what a waste of a dollar.

Actually the trasnfer case is smaller than the Titan's stock one. I think its going to be more than 29 inches because we also move the engine forward, very close to where the radiator is suppose to be. We already put on the new lift springs, the rear ones didnt fit, I'll take pictures tomorrow. Supposely the owner of the truck is bringing new custom made axles so the drivelines will be as straight as possible. Yeah, i bought two lottery tickets on Wednesday too. It was a waste of money as well. BTW we have a spare vk56de, after the job is completed I think im keeping it ![]() |

Sorry I havent updated this thread, been busy with school and work.
![]() ![]() ![]() Part of the floor has been done. And the new dynatrac axles arrived, they cost $5500 each. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We are working on the spring brackets. We also fired up the engine today, it didnt want to start, I had to connect the pedals and abs then it fired up, the engine sounds mean with no exhausts. I'll keep you posted. |

It's not his rig. It's a customer's rig. Someone with money is PAYING them to do this.
Kinda makes me wonder why he didn't park the 610 there at the shop... |

I wish the Patrol was mine.
I couldnt park the 610 in the shop, the shop its already full and at the parking lot they would tow it away if its parked overnight. |
