that title will make no sense to newbs. But you vet's Know what I'm sayin.......

Hey there, from sunny and still warm San Diego. It's been awhile since I did more than just chirp in.Here we go.

First off, I learned that a subaru ignition module will work in place of the stock ei matchbox. I found this out after being not just broke down, but plum strandedd in Ocotillo wells, (a desert favorite, about 1.5 hrs. from here.) I'm not going into the huge awesome story right now, but my gf and I thought we were going to die. I made it out, and am still driving on ,  an ignition module given to me by a local down there. (local?, there isn't even a gas station for 40 miles.)

picture #1 shows the stock matchbox dizzy wired to the subaru module in the box to the right. It's kinda hard to see, but I've been driving on it now for a long time, I drive 40 miles a day in it. Any gains using it you ask? nope. but it works just fine.

right before the mishap, ready to have some fun

anyways, that was that. next up, I removed that silly fuel cell in the rear of the bed, I just wasn't going to use it, yes I still have it, yes I'll let it go for cheap, like 50 bucks. It's rusted a little on the bottom, big deal, It's got an internal "bladder" in it that I promise holds fuel, 12 gallons to be exact.

Ummmm, next up I removed all of the decals except the two in the rear window, put a new badge on the grizzle, replaced the puny fan I originally had with a huge 14" fan...........cue next pic.....

then, I got a wild hair somewhere, I ripped out all of my carpet and padding, and redid it all with grey carpet that is rubber backed. I like it. I also redid all of my cute toggle switches with some sweet ass led ones, finished wiring up all of my flood lights, reverse spot light, etc. I also put in a nifty thick padded steering wheel center piece from a z car, replaced the shift boot, voltage guage, and added a 110 v, 250watt power inverter. Sweet.

and then, I didn't scout out another hill, climbed it, realized it was a guard rail the had sand piled up on it, and..........

yes, those were/are genuine Jap lenses, for those who didn't know.

And yes, I f ucked them up, bad. Yay for me.

Up next on the list was hitting a double set so hard that my idler arm actually put a hole through my old alternator, leaving me stranded yet again. that was  an easy fix. And in the same picture, you will see I converted back to a good old stock fuel pump. My sidedraft demanded more than my electric could supply, so I went back. It works, but I can tell that I have indeed added more friction to the rotating assembly. But not much.

But hey, I got this for christmas, from the awesomest woman ever born.................hope she reads this.

Looks like my 720 voltage gauge, but the pump looks like no stock one I've ever seen.

Judging from the damage, I also think you are having way too much fun there.

Good times Ry. So that rear license plate frame, did I give that to you? Looks like one I made for my first 620.

The volt meter is a very good gauge to have.

Have you used your top lights at night in the desert yet?

anyone know where Ethan ended up in Ca?  Sure would like to hear from my old (well young) buddy.  We did alot of car dismantling together, fun times. Remember don't part your Datsun very long in my yard.

Jeff (Icehouse) is a busy guy working on his green truck.  He braves cold weather in our shop to get it done.  He also managed to get my computer running 3 times so far.  And he finds time to help me out when I need a hand, great guy, thanks Jeff!

Ryan can you post up some pic's of your carb to master cylinder clearance?
I'm helping a new Datsun buddy with his pickup and he's runnin' a 45 with the cannon intake and he's wondering about an air filter solution...
Your running the horn filters correct?

I need to scrap the horns, I still haven't found something that works well. I keep using random filters for the horns, so, I have no answer. I lose.

It took me awhile, but that is a picture of the leds on my switch panel, inside. the lights on top are the same style as the ones in the grille - that being white lights on the outers, and yellow on the inners. maybe tonite I'll take a fun picture with all the lights uptop.

Kevin, yes, I did use the lights in the desert, it's super dark out there. In fact, I'm glad I had them.
