Wow, it's been quite a while since I posted here! I got a 1999 Subaru Impreza, and had the 620 parked for a while. Well, Sunday Night, I drove the Impreza into a highway median. Yea... it sucked. So here I am with a crushed Impreza, yet the motor is good. So here's my plan. My L20 seems to be just about shot. I don't really like it at all, so I'm not going to bother rebuilding it. So out goes the L20, and in comes a full EJ25 drivetrain. Oh the cutting and welding I'll have to do But in the long run, I'm hoping for it to come out quite nicely. I've gotta decide what axels to put on it as well... Hmm...

Suggestions to help with my swap?

yeah I can Help.

Stop the idiot behavior.!!!!!!

Personally I have to ask if you have been drinking? Cause that isnt a ez swap and why would you pick something hard to do.people dont even finnish KA,VG and SR swaps and your going to put in a Subaru motor.
This isnt going to happen!!!!!!
Putting in a L20 is the ezist thing to do besides playing Checkers

Whats even Ezer is to find anothe 620 for $500 in the Want Ads

OK build a L20 first. If you cant do that then DONT do the Subaru set up for sure.

Rering/bearing the L20 and get a basic head job and your back on the road.

I'm in albuquerque.

The reason I'm not keeping the L20 is because it's slow.

I know the feeling of a dog tired motor...
my L18 was retired when I picked up a L16 from bre620...
what a difference! it felt like I got an extra 100hp!
felt like it anyways...I know only 96 stock hp or something like that...
I say rebuild the 20!

Here's an idea: put it in the bed.  You would have to ditch the rwd part(if yours is an awd model).  Just attach the subframe to the bottom of the frame and cut up the bed kind of like the bagged trucks.  By the way I think the boxer engine is too wide for the 620 engine bay anyways.
I got drunk one night and woke up with a KA and disks in my '77 620!!

You can convert an AWD subaru to RWD with basically a pull of a fuse. And it's not to wide for the engine bay.

Sure, I just have to wait for the car to come back to me.  Insurance has it while they're trying to decide what to do.  They're going to total it, I'm not lucky enough for them to fix the damage it has.

Sorry to hear you wrecked your Subaru...did it get impounded or did you drive it home? As far as your L 20 being slow, is your truck a stick or auto? How many miles on the engine? My 2 cents on it is this..if it's a high mile engine spend the few hundred $$$ & have it rebuilt. I know they only have roughly 100 hp stock but they can easily be hopped up & made to run better & have a little get up & go. My friend... a Weber carb, mild cam, new rockers , header & youll feel the difference! Im the 1st to tell you dont start a swap that you get halfway through & say...damm this is more than what i bargained for...[my 69 L521]. Keep us posted on how its going..

That's why I never let the insurance company take the last car that got wrecked. I told them to come out and look at it. No way was I letting it leave my yard, not after having done the work I had to the engine. I now have another car to put the engine in, just need the weather to cooperate. Maybe in June!
