Hi,

I have been working on my 521 project for a while now. And my water pump has started to leak past the shaft. And i was wondering if someone knew what to do to get the fan clutch off the pulley. Thanks,

I didnt know 521 had fan clutches unless maybe someone stuck a L20b motor in there. Most L20 had fan clutches and you really can use the early L motor water pumps.I dont know when they added the fan clutch but I know the car/truck ones use a farther hole spacing for the plastic fan(recently found out)

For your case the pulley comes with the fan clutch I believe.

Take the pump off and go to a part store and start looking up water pumps(brings your also)

Most 521 had a fixed 4 blade fan held on by 4 10mm head bolts to a pully. these are the cheapest pumps but you need the pulley to go with it if you want it to fit.

The pump, pulley and the clutch fan are all one piece and are pressed on together. You have to buy the whole unit or switch to earlier L series.

Why do you want to pull it off? You'll have to get a different fan and water pump just to eliminate it. If it's simply spinning freely, you can take the clutch apart, clean it out, then pack it with wheel bearing grease. Spiffinspudater and I did that to his and it worked quite nicely. Fan would spin 1/2-3/4 of a turn when you tried to spin it.

. The motor i put in the truck is an L18 out of a 610 it came with the fan clutch on the water pump but i do have a L16 engine that i took the water pump off of and was going to put it on my L18 but then it just wouldn't have a clutch but i guess it doesn't matter. < =text/>
