I'm guessing for a chop and reweld to do a fuelie 510?
Wasn't there a manifold and injection system that just bolts up??? Just asking to know for future reference. Not implying anything about what you are doing.
Anyone done any Megasquirt installs on a fuelie 510? |

I have ONE. ONE orginal L18E EFI 4-cyl manifold. They came in some Japanese market Silvias ('79-82) and Skylines.
I have a second 4-cyl manifold that was made from a 6-cyl manifold via chop and weld. The manifold pictured above is a very common L28E manifold. The only thing that makes it somewhat desireable is it's the non-EGR version. |

If I recall, I thought that the L18(I have one as well) is 1.25 inch runners(not positive). And the N42 is 1.38.

I thought there was another engine that was fuel injected that was a bolt in swap to the L16-20. Was a few years of 200sx or something. I dont recall what motor/car it cam from though.

There is no easy EFI swap. The easiest is the JDM manifold we are talking about, and all the stock EFI stuff from the first EFI 200sx. The only thing you have to do then is switch the throttle pedal and cable. Presto Chango EFI.

I double checked, both are 1.25 inches. N42, chop weld, no EGR. JDM 4, no mods, has EGR crap cast into manifold.

You're going to take a 1975 non emissions 280Z intake manifold and chop it for a FI project that you'll never finish!!!? you evil, evil man! I'd buy one for $10 if it was clean like that with no EGR ect. They only came in non-cali 1975 Z cars. Go get a common intake manifold and chop it up. Heck, I'll give you one! Its from a 1983 280ZX. |

Bleach, what in the world are you talking about?
![]() I will finish it. I have to go home and mount the MSD fuel pump tonight. I just found the p/n for the connector and wires for the DJET fuel injectors I am using. The fuel rail is done, the L18 manifold is mounted. The 300zx Tbody is mounted. I have 2 throtles, one from a B210, one from a 810. Mix and match and it puts the pedal in the air and allows a nice spot for a throttle cable. I'm going to finish it. Also I am confused, you said the N42 was "very common". So whats wrong with chopping it up. I would never chop the L18 manifold. I am using the L18 for now. I am going to port the N42 manifold and then chop and weld so I can get 1.5 inch runners. Whats wrong with that? |

Bleach didn't say it was "very common". I did, and I was mistaken. The version with the EGR on it is far more common.

Here is my final manifold. I made the brackets today to hold the fuel rail up. It went well. Overall I am 95% satisfied. My injector hose nipples are a smidge of center on one of them. This is the only thing I wish I had done a little more precise. But I think it will be fine. I was going to mount my fuel pump, but I did this tonight.
It was really tough to get the holes to line up. I had to bend and check and bend and check and bend and check............ |
