I am moving to Las Vegas so my wife can go to school.  I have my truck apart and need to get it together so I can ship it.

I was wondering if a few people from the forum would be interested in coming to Tacoma and helping me put it together.  In repayment I have my assortment of parts that I cant use on my 620, and I will have my wife cook lunch and dinner.  Currently I have in the not used pile (2) 91 pathfinder t-cases both good, 91 pathfinder 5 speed (possible countershaft bearing failure), front suspention including brakes from '85 720, lots of HB stuff (driveshaft, tortion bars, interior stuff, dash, bench seat, fenders, wiper motor)  Take whatever you want, I won't want to move it.

I was thinking the weekend of Oct 7th/8th.

Give me a call (253)272-2751.  If you didn't already know, real name is Glen.  Thanks

I got drunk one night and woke up with a KA and disks in my '77 620!!

Just as a FYI, the weekend of Oct 7th/8th...........I would be willing to bet that many folks already have plans for the 7th.......two events going on..........one is the St. Helens Cruise and the other is the Nissan Meet in Olympia. Not trying to discourage anyone, but just an FYI in case you don't get a lot of response.

Thanks, Paula.  The date isn't really important, so if someone has a day they can do it let my know.  Weekends are open, and weekdays after 4pm work too.

I'd be willing to help a little. I do have plans on the 7th...  ...and maybe even the 8th but we'll see.

What kind of work are you looking at getting accomplished before you ship the truck?

Get the disk brake front suspention installed, the KA wired up coolant and fuel lines installed, and interior put together.  And mabey get the left front fender put in, and the hood pinned on(the drivers side hinge is solid).  Mostly getting it moble.  Like I said before though any day is good past 4:00 weekdays or any weekend.

Hey, You are coming to the Southwest!!! Welcome! James lives in L.V. as well as a few other Datsun guys. I only live 90 miles away and get Up there once in a while. Maybe James can help You with exhaust work when You get there. Are You shipping, hauling, towing or driving the truck down? Oh, and also, You said Your hinge is "solid". Hinges rust in the holder and can easily be made to work again. Just remove the bold and keep dripping Liquid Wrench on the hinge. After a few hours it should free up and then when You remove it, sand each side down and replace. Every truck's hood hinges should be oiled once a year or so, especially in damp climates. Good luck!!

PS Just how many of You guys live in L.V. now?

Just to plant a bit of worry, remember that Nevada will require your 620 to go through smog...

He has a '77... he'd need the air pump and EGR that came with the original L20B. If I recall Nevada does visual inspections in addition to the tailpipe reading. That's why Steve had to sell his hopped-up 620 (heck, it's how I ended up with my '78 4X4, except that was Utah). Washington is one of the VERY few Smog-test States that doesn't do an underhood inspection, and VERY rare for it to be a floating 25-year rule (many have gone back to the 1968-on rule).

The KA probably has the EGR system, but no air pump. It would likely need some sort of waiver, and a catalytic converter added. It's legal to use a newer engine, but it does require that the newer engine have all the smog equipment installed as well.

Speaking of no under-hood inspection, my non-turbo Z just passed smog in Washington... of course, running a turbo engine under the hood with all the emisions stuff blocked off.

Thanks for the welcome Steroid.  I wish I could oil my hinges, nbut the drivers side is broke off at the spotwelds.

I will be moving to Centenial Hills according to my wife.

Do you guys know how the visual is done?  I was thinking that I could just paint the stock air cleaner that Datsun baby blue, throw a hollow cat on it and call it good.   Idon't think the Honda driving 16 year old at the emission station would be the wiser. I would imagine the KA would put out better emisions non catted than a catted L20?????  I guess I can put one on anyways, too bad I already gave the Hardbody OEM one away.

Paul, you havn't done anything with that double dipstick L16??  I thought you would have that beast torn down and putting out 300HP by now!  Didyou put that 4 speed in your truck when your went out a while back?

The only visual inspection that I ever get is checking my gas cap. Cats weren't required until... '79 I think it is, but if your truck came with 1 originally some stations will look under to see if its there.

**EDIT** Centennial Hills is about 1 mile maybe 2 from my house!

If they only do the gas cap visual in NV then that's probably a good thing. But Steve had issues, particularly with the dual carbs. And he had a '73 that had virtually nothing to begin with (just an evaporative system on the tank)! Some places pull up charts with items to look for- that's why my '78 620 wouldn't pass in Utah. They failed it for having the EGR, the Air Pump, and associated hoses missing. If they don't pop the hood, they won't know. In WA they used to do underhood inspections (in fact, my '78 510 failed due to not having a catalytic converter even though it wasn't required. BUT, the car was a California car that had been so equipped and had the "CATALYST" emissions sticker under the hood ... So I just went home, swapped the hood to one which had a Non-Catalyst sticker, and went to another station and passed. Then changed the hood back.)

From what I've seen, Nevada tests are done at garages. Usually Garages know what to look for. But they are also usually more amicable to altered vehicles then a test station. But sometimes not.
