This is going to be the thread for my '78 Datsun 620 King Cab. Right now all I can do is post pictures of it untill I start working on it in a month. WARNING I HAVE A LOT OF PICTURES SO FAR. I will be taking higher resolution ones later when I get home in a month and will host them on my site so I dont bog this place down.

I already have replacement headlamps (H4 Conversion), new 350z seats, and euro lens for the lower front. I know she has a lot of work but it is going to be a toy truck more than a daily driver so I am in no hurry.

Some of the areas that look like they are leaking may just need to be cleaned up. This truck HAS been sitting for about 3 years up in rainy oregon. The rust I dont be as bad as it may look. the rust on the floor boards is just surface and can be sanded off quite easily. The moonroof(sunroof? Never knew the diff) doesnt leak a drip but I am going to replace all the screws, repaint the outside stuff and re seal it (the current culk job looks preaty bad). I will add stuff as I think of it.

The factory Tac is a nice option that I didnt even pay much attention to when I bought the truck 4 years ago untill I heard everyone talking about how rare it is. I just cant wait to get back up there to get it so it is ready to drive down to cali. 1 more month.

Looks like the body is straight except for the gate. And I notice your dash doesnt have any cracks in it, very cool!

I was rearended by an uninsured motorist and my insurance didnt cover that so I was pretty screwed. It tore off my heafty metal bumper (That I still have but probably wont ever use). You should have seen what it did to her blazer though. Haha, stupid woman. The rest of the body is fairly straight, however I will have to fill a couple rust spots (corner of the door is the only one I can think of ATM). I am trying to find a good tailgate or find a place that will fabricate a smooth skin for it.

The dash is PERFECT. It does have disk breaks in the front AFAIK (been a couple years since I looked and I have a short term memory). Like I said, I will take some better pictures to document. These are just what my family took for me untill I get there so I know what I am working with.

I think this is the place you are refering to.
Grant Kustoms

They are only 119.95 I just wish I could see an image of it. Better yet I still had a straight tailgate frame to put it on.

Javin what most people do is remove the gate & build a frame of tubing & then weld the skin directly to that. It makes it a bit easier & that way theres less weight out back.

I think my biggest problem with this whole project is that I have NO expierance in welding. I think I can take classes here on base for free so I might look into that. I will look into that. So you are saying that if I want to do a skin then dont buy a new tailgate? Alright. Sounds good to me as it would cost too much for a new gate anyways. I also need to learn to remove rust spots (cut out and reweld sheet metal piece in its place), pound out dents, and cover door handles when I shave it. I know a lot of it can be done with body filler/bondo, but I would rather do it right.

yeah it 119.95 for the tailgate only but 169.95 is the tailgate and rollpan together as one so you can get rid of damaged taillight housings and yeah wish they had pics too man that would be nice. and take welding its mandatory, later

Alright, I just got some rims. I did end up with the armada 5 spokes. However, I think I may have just come across a second set for ~250 (Not including shipping) if someone is interested. I will have more info when I get up to OR. Another thing, if any of you guys in cali want something from up in oregon (A bed topper for your truck especially) PM me and I will see what I can do.

Javin I have a friend who may be interested in those Armada rims for $250, let me know on that so i can call & ask him. And by bed topper do you mean camper shell or bed cover? I may be interested. Cool find on the Armada's!

Camper shell. I dont have one but if you find one in oregon I have no problem tossing it on my truck for the trek down to get it to you. About the rims I will get more info later I have to go to PT.
