Sorry, I can't hold out anymore. And I still need a straight with cam towers still intact U67 head or maybe an A87 peanut, if I can get away with that. After xmas, though. Anyways it's been bored, tanked, milled just a smidge, and the broken chain guide bolts are out.yes.....

here Hainz, remember these?   ---V

Aren't the intake ports smaller than the u67?

Ya I think the A87 ports and valves are smaller, slightly.

So is that block now on your livingroom floor?

Ryan ,why didnt you have Terri assemble the whole bottom end? I think it would have been better it he did that. Gap rings ect.... ARP bolts

The A 87 if closed chamber has smaller intake ports which can be enlarged if you PAY for it. Just be careful not to get into the water jacket. Other wise it does have the 1.65 intake valves as the U67.

also I have the 1/8 BSP adapter for the block if you want to go to a mechanical oil gauge. Dont use the ones in the store they are close but not the correct thread.

also you can get new Dip stick gauge from nissanparts.cc fro like 3$

If you need help timming and chaining that up let me know. Im busy with work but if its allset(nice clean and all parts there) up it will only take a couple minutes to do.

PS make sure that front cover where the inside of the water pump is good or maybe coat it. Unlike mine! water in the oil pan!!!! But hell the motor looked good from the outside

I thought those were L20 pistons he bought on the ebay site. Those were deep dish if I remeber right but said L18 85mm.

No, Ibought l18 pistons. and terry did gap the rings, I can slide them in and assemble the crank myself, that's not hard. as far as the timing, I've got it now, and the front cover's not going on this time until it is timed. I've spent way too much already to do something wrong now. I still have to take the crank and have it micropolished first, then find new standard size main bearings.

those sealed power pistons were a crappy design, these pistons are much betta. I'm actually getting the main bearings that are listed in the nismo comp catalog, as well as the high volume pump. autosport gets that sh it for about half the nissan cost. for instance, the pump lists through nissan at 101.00, he told me 56.00 for the same part #. same with the bearings, and the high strength head bolts.  I'm not cutting corners this time, at all. I've already thrown out my lash pads, oil pump, water pump, head bolts, main bearings. that way the temptation isn't there to slap it together. feel me?

56$ sounds like a stock pump to me. They got to add there profit margin in there.(autosport)
x ref the #s. from a true turbo pump to a stock pump.
say 280z to a 280zx turbo. If its one # then its just a standard pump you got.

if true then I got to get one also.

But remember I found many a store list the 510 clutch as the same as a Roadster. But find out its just a 510 clutch. the stock 350KG model

As for the Sealed Power pistons. Well (Sterling) makes alot of pistons for the V8 crowd. Cant see how they can go bad.

PS Autosport sold another kid I know a Cam. I found out later it was just a Delta Cam. That means the lift isnt as advertised. I got them for 33 $ w core exchange from Delta. meaning whats the mark up. So what is their cost of a TURBO PUMP?

Mr auto-parts.com list the stock oil pimps for both cars but doesn not list a turbo so will assume its a stock pump 41$
Rockauto does list 2 oil pumps one for a stock L28 which should be the same as for the 4 cyl vehicles and the L28 turbo which has another part # Beck Arnley Brand and Sealed Power(repackaged Jap part). and its close to 85-100$ for the pumps.

So I figure Autosport with their profit margin(mark up gave you a stock pump. Catch him in a LIE!!!!!!!!

Ted or Doug, we should see if the 280ZX in the Tacoma yard has a 5-speed in it. Now is the time for Ryan to put a 5-speed in. Also need a front driveshaft from a 1974 1/2 to '79 truck.

I'm sure this L20b will be great but there's no need for more over revvin on the freeway. That 5th gear will help prolong the life the engine for muddin' and sand dunein'

yeah I see its a 101$ unit from nissan. I have the # in my book

But I still think its a stock pump they superceded the # to the stock one.
But I will go down there if I dont work over X mas and ck that out. If true I will get one myself.
I had Brad at Autosport get me some 240z pistons found out later made in taiwan. I said NO Taiwan. Then I found out Silvolite is cheaper and made here in the states . He should know where to get this!!!!Said cant find a supplier. Now w the internet there is no excuse.

I myself think stock pumps are fine on a 4 cly cause they used the same pump on a 6 and your not going thru another journal or whatever. But on the higher lift cams I maybe say get them or if running a spray bar get the Turbo pump.
