First up, prepare new fender for install. This is the fender I got after that woman backed into my truck. I've been driving around with fender 'o dent for several months now. I purchased primer, fiberglass kit, and fiberglass reinforced Bondo. Woot! I sanded the back side of the emblem mount holes and applied three little patches of fiberglass. Tomorow the fiberglass Bondo will go on the outside. no pics tonight, its too dark outside............. |

Sanded and applied fiberglass patches on the back side of the emblem mounts. Sanded front body seam Applied fiberglass reinforced bondo to front surfaces. This stuff sure is not as smooth and easy to apply as regular bondo. Maybe I will end up using a final thin coat of the smooth bondo before primer. Also applied underbody coating to the inside of the fender to keep the rust away a couple more years. This stuff sprays on like really thick paint. It was easy to aim and smells bad too! And then there's the 620 air dam. I cleaned it and primered the first coat tonight. |

Yes, the air dam. Not the L28 turbo in the background.

Hell yes, i think the air dam will give it the 70's look! & yes the mar glass body filler doesnt go on that pretty but its stronger than regular body filler, just apply a few coats of regulat bondo or glazing putty on top of it.

You know, if I buy myself a welder and some good metal cutting tools I could do some nice fabrication work. I might be able to run an L28 some day. It would be so nice if my 620 could get up on the freeway like my Z does right now. Of course, a KA24DE might do about the same thing as an L28... and the KA would fit much better. |

...still working on the air dam and fender. I got the fiberglass bondo smoothed out pretty good and then applied a thin layer of regular bondo to finish it with. That stuff is drying and will be sanded tonight. The air dam is just getting a couple more coats with light sanding in between. On the body seam of the fender I put a small amount of the fiberglass bondo on it. Then I'm going to coat that part heavily with the undercoating to prevent any water from getting in on the backside. On the bed, I'm going to do the same thing. Clean up all the inside body seams and then coat them really good with several layers of that undercoating. Then I'm going to re-do the front of the seams smooth like the fender. |

The 620 is looking good! Is the dock bumper history?

The dock bumper is history. I do have a 620 trailer so I'd like to get a hidden hitch hooked up some day to tow a trailer with.

Well, I have had some minor delays this week but still got some good time in on the truck. Its not looking good, but it might still be ready by the weekend. All of the passenger side, front, and almost all the driver's side is ready for primer. ...except for the bed. The bed only has a couple minor things left to do and then I'm going to remove the tail light housings and prepare those. I'm prepping the whole truck first, then I'll mask it off and do several full coats of primer in one evening. Oh, that means tomorrow evening if I hope to have Friday to work on the exhaust. I quickly changed out the wiper arm bushing as we had previously seen done. It was easy and described well. I got more pics myself for a future article. I fit the new fender and it fits pretty good. Its an aftermarket one.
