well hey, I thought I'd post some pics of what I've done lately. Being as though my other long ass thread was mutilated, I'll begin a new one. for all of you.

got my lights in, yes, they work.

god I love that grille, Bleach. just look at it.

I made a rear filler piece from sheetmetal, and painted it and the housings black.

And I also sprayed the dash insert with some pretty nifty "wrinkle" paint. I also shot the windshield pillars with it.

I also replaced the creepy green backlighting with blue led's.

that's all for now. I think I'm gonna get a fiberglass hood or new cd player for it next. Can't decide.

Do you still need a headlight bucket thing? I've got one from TJ to give to you... also have some other 'junk' of yours.

Yeah, , probably wouldn't hurt, I made mounting brackets for the drivers side fog lamp, but I wouldn't mind swapping in a newer bucket. what else do you have for me? crap, I need to swing by anyways and fiish that one last duct, huh? let s try to do something this week.

Ryan,
I'd like to know where you got the LED's. Are they 12V or did you have to put in some kind of volt drop resistor? Any pics of how you mounted them? The grill does look nice and I really like the wrinkle paint!

Mike, they are leds that I got in the ricer section of schucks. they were ready for 12v, with a resistor already installed. as far as mounting, I completely pulled the guages apart and placed them inside the housing, one in the bottom of the speedometer, and one in the middle of the other guages. they work fairly well.

Thanks Ryan...I'll have to check that out!! I'm thinking about using some to light up the foot area when the door opens. On the 521, I pulled the colored dash light covers out. Now they light up white and bright enough to see! Much nicer.....but, they still pull a pretty good load and it's real easy to burn a circuit board run up, so I'd like to change them out.

mercedes benz foglamps. check ebay. they have a replaceable h3 bulb in them, which is also nice. I think everyone should own a pair. get lucky enough, and you'll score a set for 27.00, like me!!!

Those look like the ones from a 240D Mercedes, or the 280CE of the mid to late 70's.

Well guys, i fixed that nasty battery problem, check it out -

Bre620 had asked me about my headliner, it was originally white, but, thanks to a bottle of shoe scuff remover, it looks like this, just brush on a few coats, and voila - - -

More go fast stickers, man I need my glass hood---

And thanks for the great tip at the carshow, Jeff, and I think Jim had this ,too. No more sheet metal!

Cool, I ran my battery cable through the bed floor & along the frame to the front instead of through the cab.

no, I'm gonna leave the cab and bed stock looking, and the whole front end will have changed. as for the leds, they were stick on , small rectangular casing, maybe 1" wide, each holding a single miniature led and resistor, I think they were, " city lights" meant to adhere to the headlight, and cast a reflection into the headlight housing.
