That oil slinger in the photo look pretty chewed up.It keep exessive oil coming out the front cover I think. What the hell happened?
And when you said you had the oil pan all buttoned up and the head not on? Come on. Lets get this right the first time. get the block done. Then put on the head. Next will be the chain, tensioner guides oil pump worn gear ect..., front cover, pulley then finally the primed oil pump. The timming chain will be noice and tite and you will not dought if it sliped if you put the head on first. That way you mentioned is a cheezy way to do it. Lucky you have a Nissan How to rebuilt book!!! Or you dont? Get a good head now. intial cost might be 100$ bucks. and rebuilt it, bigger cam ect...Spend the moeny now and take your time, give it a couple of months. Keep the other motor running in the truck so down time will be minimal. Also hopefully the oil pan is exaclty the same as the one on the truck!!!Not 2 different ones then it hits something. I dont reccoment putting in a new bottom end to only put a used new top end on. Lets do all of it NEW. I said if you need help and have all the parts nice and clean I can come over and assemble it for you. That means all front cover bolts(all the sizes) in the spot ready to go. PS The Roadster clutch has more pressure than what your motor will produce. So if using a 200mm flywheel feel confident wth it. |

Ryan you plan on getting a Cam.
Better look at one now if New there is a wait time. I know I had to wait like 6 weeks for my Schneider Cam. They grind it from a core blank. They are not on the shelf. Scheider, Crane Cams Webcams Isky, might be in stock Gude Elgin also with a new cam get new Rocker arms $$$$$ Crower |

Gee, Ryan has the same size tires I do...
On the 4X4! BTW, a 235/75-15 fits just fine in the spare tire holder. I have 225/70 14's on the junk hauler truck. |

i'm so used to the 31" on my truck. it's hard to remember what it was like when i ran 235's on it. (let alone the 205's that were on there when i got it.) some day when i get off my @ss and put the Toyota axle and springs under mine i'll move up to 33". that will probly be the same day the monkeys come flying out. right now i have a bad feeling that my bottom end is asking for some attention. i've worked my way up to a fair amount of blow by. i am not amused. well, that sets my record for time without cracking open my lower end at three years. the last rebuild cost me $870 for parts and machine work. i hope i can get away with rings, bearings and a timing chain this time.
