Since I actually got my interior done and drove my car a few places (like the vintage races) I figured it was time to take it apart again.

I installed the new front suspension and brakes I bought a while ago.

Front struts off an 82 280ZX (strengthened and shortened with coil overs).

Eibach 250 LB springs

Koni adjustable road race inserts.

12” vented rotors with AP racing 4 piston calipers (like touring cars run)

Ground Control camber plates.

Bump steer spacers.

Surprisingly even with the (much) bigger calipers and rotors the new parts lightened each side 13 LBS. The new calipers are quite a bit lighter than the 280 calipers, the bigger rotor is a wash due to the hat being aluminum and the rest of the savings are in the spring and camber plate.

BTW my old 280 struts are for sale...

Thanks

Not sure how it works yet I am waiting for the brake lines to arrive this morning so I can drive it but I expect that I will have all the brake I need no matter what I do with the car.

The brake kit by itself goes for about $1,700 new but I bought it and the struts (but not the spring, camber plate and insert) used from a guy who ran them on his GT4 510.

I finally got the brakes finished and took the car out for a drive.

I was waiting for the brake line adaptor and finally gave up on Summit and ordered them from Pegasus racing. The new hoses worked well (kinda had to guess what ones to use) and everything fit.

Whoo hoo does the car have brakes now!! It also seems to handle a lot better. I set the Konis at about 2/3 firm and am probably running too much camber. The car steers much easier and turns in a lot faster.

Now I just need to get it aligned, install the rear shocks and maybe put rear disks on it (what is the easiest swap?)

I installed the rear shocks (KYB AGX adjustables) yesterday and it is handling better now. I can't wait to get the alignment done and get an adjustable rear crossmember so I can align the rears.

I think I'm going to get a set of Panasports and some Falken Axenis sports I'm thinking of 15X7 wheels with 205-50-15s what do you think?

Tonight I FINALLY got around to installing my Electromotive ignition.

I have had the parts sitting around for a very long time and decided I needed to get it done.  I installed the ignition/coil box on the firewall and made a bracket for the crank pickup. Now i just need to wait for my new Ignition wires to come in (need HEI wires for it) and do a little more wiring and it should be running!

Got my Electromotive Ignition installed tonight.

Still need to clean up the wiring and install the ignition control inside the car (so I can adjust the timing on the fly) but it runs.
I have done no tuning yet but the car seems smoother and like I picked up a little torque.

Now I need to figure out what to do with the distributor not sure if you can just get rid of it and cover the hole because it seems like the oil pump drive might need the support..any ideas on this?

I ordered
Adjustable rear crossmember
Rear springs

rear crossmember mounts
rear control arm mounts
idler arm bushing
headliner kit
new dome light assy

I can't wait to get everything!

That's nice, re-routing the gas like that.
I have dealt with Datsport also and liked them very much, I got all of my new rubber seals from them, was pretty happy except for the fit on the F&R windscreens, but the price was right.

Glad to hear that, my parts are supposed to ship next week

I also ordered a rear disk kit from top end yesterday (uses wilwood calipers) I'll try to post some pics when the parts arrive.

Anybody know where to get panasports?  I talked to calssic datsun and dave turner and they are out of stock (bout 4 months out, ouch!)

Looking for 15X6.5

More questions...
What size are those tires? and that rear end from Australia, is it just slotted or what?

I am going to install a hydraulic parking brake (similar to line lock) and a proportioning valve.

The tires in the background are 195-50-15 Yokohama AVS-es100s on 15X7 wheels (I am selling these)

The tires on the panasports are 205-50-15 on 15X6.

The rear crossmember is from Datsport and is slotted with an adjustment system for the bolts so it is easy to change the alignment settings but the bolts will not slip out of alignment.

The control arms are pretty standard except they are cleaned up (misc hangers removed) powder coated, have new wheel bearings and have nolatek bushings. My old arms had a slightly (.030) bent axle on the right side and worn splines so instead of buying a new axle (very expensive) I just decided to buy the rebuilt arms from Datsport, their stuff is great. I do have a set of newly painted control arms (deltron urethane paint) for sale but one side needs a new axle.

Dang, that's a nice car! And those springs are Yellow! woot!

I didn't know the 510 rear suspension was like that. Its much different than the Z's strut... more like the late 70's 510.

Bleach, the late 70's 510 had a live axle, like a pickup. The early 510's were like your ZX rear suspension.

Yes, other than having 4 lugs and a red shock absorber, it looks nothing like an A10 setup. The late 510 rear axle has the coil spring directly on the axle and 2 sets of centering link barsrunning from the front of the axle to the body.
