Ok, so finally I start to primer. There's still a couple dings I need to touch up around the back corner.

And my Bleach garage (dot com) computer is in place and just about ready for inzane MP3 playing!

...and in the 2nd picture you can see my alternate mode of transportation.

With those 15x7 wheels, I put in a 1/4 inch spacer ring behind the rear wheels. Even with that, check out how close the parking brake cable comes to the rim. Its very stiff, so it won't every rub but it does rub without the spacer!

I have no idea when this truck will ever see paint. For now, I expect to drive it daily with the primer sealer. I'll shoot another light coat and wetsand right before I apply the actualy blue paint though. In the mean time, I have more lowering to do, interrior work, and some body mods.  ...still trying to figure out what I'm going to do with the front a-arms. I want a custom arm to correct my camber.

Paint could be this summer or maybe 2005.

I think you can put on a hardbody drop spindle to help with the camber. Lots cheeper then a custom arm.

Thanks to all for the compliments. Its fun to get this truck looking better.

oh ya. My dad has the grinder. I'll have to borrow that from him to finish the hooks off. I'm also going to fill the body seams and probably do a proper french on the side marker lights. I want to keep them for safety and legality so they won't be shaven.

But like I said, there are a few other body mods I'll do and I can sand, do the mod, and reprimer when I'm done. Is reprimer a word?  ...does it matter?

Ok, just finish the talegate. Late night in the garage....

Where does somebody buy bright green house paint anyway?!? Have you ever thought about that?

Did anyone notice my rear side marker mod? I took off that huge angled spacer that comes with the truck. I used the rubber backing and mount from a spare front side marker and just put the red lense on it. Its a little more normal looking...

Dunno about house paint, though honestly you can get it tinted whatever color you want, but I sprayed my Mom's truck with 22 cans of DEP "Gloss Green" that was the exact same shade. Back in 1992. When I was 18. It looked OK for a few years.

I didn't learn too much from that at the time- I sprayed an entire fender on my '78 Wagon with Hammerite. Hey, the color matched... The "Hammered Metal Finish" texture didn't. Still on there today.

Then I sprayed my own truck with rust-o-leum last Summer... It's a $30 paint job. Not rattlecans, but Rustoleum doesn't sand.

All in all, not as bad as my Uncle Phil who wallpapered the roof of his car. The OUTSIDE.

My Mom once took a bunch of those 60s flower stickers, cut the petals off and made flower-petal racing stripes on her car (yes, in the 60s)

Or the guy I knew in the Navy who covered his car in skateboard non-skid strips.

Or the woman who "fixed" her peeling vinyl roof by covering the whole roof in gaffer's tape.

Funny story... when I was at GI Joes, I saw some gallons of automotive paint for $32. That's about half the price of the "cheap stuff" at an automotive paint supply store. I wonder if its garbage. It was a name brand of popular spray paint but I forgot which brand. Anyway, I think I'll go ahead and spend a little more money for the paint to be sure I don't screw up my truck after all this work.

...and sanding the details in the talegate was not a fun job. That took almost twice as long as one side of the bed. At least the hardest part is over...

Since I'm going with black on the inside of the bed, should I go through the work of sanding all the green paint off there too or is there something I can just throw down on top of it all. I figure I'll touch up the scratches in the floor every year anyway.

rhino liner! expensive but worth it. it had my 95 bed sprayed and man i love it! look around though. you might find a line-X dealer that will do it cheaper. either one is worlds better than paint! rhino liner-95 hardbody- $300.

not a bad price. hey bleach, odmans ugly truckling was done with x-o-rust brand paint. didn't turn out too bad. and if you let the paint cure for the full amount of time i'm sure it would turn out better. but since we painted one day and went out mudding the next it kinda got a dull finish in places. but heres what it looked like as far as gloss went before we went mudding.

it doesn't have that high luster but it doesn't look bad either. i think i'm going to paint my jeep safety yellow with x-o-rust when i get my datsun on the road. i know its not a datsun but do you guys think safety yellow would look good on this?

There's a GI Joes in Washington?

Then again, maybe I did see one on S. Meridian.

There are two of them! (that I know of)

I-5 and 348th in Federal Way. nexto to Costco and Ciruit City.

East Hill of Kent accross from Chuck e Cheese and Top Foods. (forgot the cross street)

I go to the one in Fed Way; never been inside the Kent GI Joes. In Kent, there is a little store with the absolute coolest name ever!

The best paint to use and is fairly reasonably priced is called Centari by Du Pont, it is a two part Acrylic Enamel and is very strong and has a high gloss finish, this paint can also be used one engine blocks and pretty much anything it's so tuff. I would reccomend this as my friend works in an autobody shop and paints cars with it every day and has painted all his 510's with it and it looks like its a $500 dollar paint not a $75 dollar paint that it is. Also he said it is a nice forgiving pait to paint with and doesn't run or sag as much as some other paints. As soon as the weather is good im going to paint my truck with it.

Here is a pic of Centari finish

and here is the sprayer i bought  for paintin my Datsun's

I got the jams of the tailgate and passenger rear corner sanded and primered. Gate installed with bunjee cords holding it closed. I like not having the handles there. I have an idea already on how to rig it up like this...
