i just located a 3500 original mile 73 620. this truck was donated to tstc in 1973. manufactures regularly donate vehicles with no vins to schools to teach students how to work on them. this truck is a peach color and sat on the dealers lot and never sold. it was given to tstc with the aggreement that if it gotten rid of it would have to be destroyed. well as mistakes happen it was sold and has been sitting and is in near perfect condition with the head missing and thats it. the old guy im buying it from also got a 73 620 with a dually rear end and some sort of camper setup from 73. it has 12 miles on it but hes using it for a shed and wont even part it out. is it rare? well the one im getting has no title or vins and the motor is likely junk from sitting open but i just happen to have this 73 rag mobile here with good vins etc. most likely i will cut out the floor pans since messing with vins will land you in jAIL, BUT IT IS WELL WORTH THE $150 ASKING PRICE. BTW, BESIDES NEEDING PAINT IT IS 100% DENT FREE. I WILL GET PICS SOON. forgive my crap typing skills i was told by my father that works at tstc and is in charge of destroying cars that were donated that this truck was donated because the odd ball paint is why it didnt sell and that it was supposed to be chopped and crushed. before his time ofcourse.

Don't cut out the floors, just swap the cabs. From what I saw of yours the rest of the cab has rust elsewhere (inner fenders) so you'll be better off. There are NO VINS etched in the cab anywhere, the VIN is etched on the frame under the battery tray. There's a number on the radiator support but it's not the VIN, just a cab #. I have the cab from a '76 on my '79. The cab is just another piece of sheet metal as far as the police are concerned. What you can't swap legally without reinspection is the frame itself.

The VIN plates (engine room and door post) are just screwed in (or riveted on later ones) so don't worry about it. Just move 'em.

Dude don'y worry about vins if you own them then what can they tell you "sorry sir you can not fix that rusted out sh*t box" hell no they can't if you own both then just swap away. I did it and in my case was far worse than yours, 78kc into a 73kc lol. Chris
