Anyone got some door pannels for a 521 that are in good shape? I'm got rid of mine when I got tjhe truck. They were TRASHED so bad! If I can't find any I'm just gonna make some. What type of board would be best to use?

Pegboard is a good base on a budget, but you've got to cover it or it'll be ugly. Unless you need the space to store your tools in the cab...
I think the stuff comes without holes too, but the extra holes makes it real easy to attach. My 520 panels are trashed under the funky 70's cloth covers, the stuff is basically hard cardboard. |

Cool, thanks! I just want the doors to be covered. I'm gonna sheetmetal them later, but they're ugly right now

masonite is what pegboard is usually made from. i helped a friend make some out of 1/8" thick black plastic for his ScoutII.we got it at a radial moulding place. ya know, where they make plastic water tanks and such. i used aluminium diamond plate on my Ramcharger. they also have plain sheet aluminium at places like Pacific Steel. that's where i got mine. i used the old ones for a template and cut them out with a jig saw.

Just don't get Masonite or peg board wet.... I saw a chap do some door panels, and he used the fiberglass tile board that is used in shower enclosures. It's thin, stong and can be bent with a little heat, and it will hold it's shape after heating and bending. And it's also water proof.

Be sure to replace the plastic sheet that seals the door off from the door panel. Or you will be replacing the panels again soon.

I have some that came off my 520 and i believe they are original. But when i took the panels off, the holes that hold the clips in kinda broke apart!

I use this stuff from home depot and im not sure what it is called but its kinda like corigated plastic that you would use to make signs out of. Its no thicker then pegg board to make the door panels out of and the beauty of it is if it gets moist it wont expand and fall apart or start to get wavey. Also contact cement sticks to it very well for gluing on material and can be cut easily with a razor blade, i just get my old panel, lay it ontop and trace it out with a jiffy on the plastic and then cut it out and and slap some shag on it and your done.

they have that corigated plastic in black at Sign Pro. i was thinking about using it fill the daylight that i have between my bed and frame rails. also between the inner front fender wells and the frame. what with the stupid hight body lift and all i've got gaposis something fierce. i think that i've decided to cut up a rubber bed liner mat to be the gap filler. being as that's the only thing that those things are good for besides rusting out the floor of your bed.

i was thinkin bout using diamond cut aluminum for door panels in my 620... it would look good all polished... especially if you also use it for the headliner... and maybe the rear wall or trans tunnel... later, Chris |

Diamond plate would be cool looking if you are doing the gutted race car look. I think it would be really hard to to the headliner though. here is what I did on my doors recently it was tough to decide on the look

It's a Spal kit. I also used "twindows" modules (old school car alarm stuff) for one touch up and down The switches are in the center console and the motors are also tied into the alarm.
