cdogg,
Tell us about the motor. Thats that expensive motor you talking about.
Tells us the performance gain. You spend like $3K on it right?

I think I would yank that motor out and reshoot(paint) that truck.
Unless its a sleeper.

Oh by the way you can get the Blue Streak dist caps witht he copper contacts and some nice blue Ngk wires also.
Standard motor Products has the caps.
That motor looks good!

Hey all thx for the complements it was my buddies idea to paint it all and I am so glad we did it came out great. Hainz yes this is the damn near $4000 beast. How does it run.. good great low end but I can't rev it passed 4500 or so yet its not broke in but it seems to not really have a full throttle like I think it should, I still need to play with the carb and with not knowing too much about weber carbs it is going to take some learning on my part. Btw here are some more day shots just took em god I love my new phone!! Chris

Is that a Datsun intake? cannon? Offy. I open mine up soo the trasition between carb and manifold is near the same. Smooth flow ,no edges.

As for the carb opening. I know you pushed the pedl down and see where the butterfly position is at.

I think you will go to duals eventually. Cause you were thinking you would get more power out of out.
I lay money you dont have more than 100-110 rear wheel HP.

As for breaking it in. Drive it like you stole it!. If its going to go bad it will soon rather than later.

On the valve cover vent I always use a hose. I think those K&N vents fill up to fast. I route mine down by the trans. If you like pretty get a braided line.

What cam is in there? Lift duration ect??

That motor looks good.
I want to know why it cost 4K$

Ok why 4000 well its all started with a junkyard z22 truck block and a u67, bored 40 over, fully balanced with flywheel, lightned flywheel, fully ported exhaust, port matched intake, 280z valves both intake and exhaust blended into bowls, cannon intake, weber 38/38 carb, header into 2.5 exh. sys., priority main oiling, balanced and recurved dizzy, 280/480 cam good from 2200 to 5800 or so, plus the man. shop put most of it together. I think thats it. It comes to some where around 3700+, just 2760 in man. shop bill. 250 for carb 230 for intake 230 for header 85 for dist/ and another 85 for recurve. The idle is what I love, pull up next to some one and they glance back and forth with no thought until they here it and then they begin to stare like wtf and then I drive off it makes that money seem worth it. Btw with a dgv you should be around 160 hp and 200+ ftlbs with dcoe you should be 180+ hp and 160+ ftlbs. I also have a hook up on a dyno and will test it when I get it right. Chris

Looking good! Your engine bay is one of the cleanest i've seen. Are you going to run the OG hub caps & rings?

that's super sexy, cdogg. about your upper RPM thing... i wonder if your timing isn't advancing enough or it could be starving for fuel. i first had that same thin air filter on mine. it would run rich after a couple of weeks of driving. i went to the thicker one because i got tired of having to wash it so often. (i get them dirty fast off roading) i noticed right away that i didn't get the loading up action nearly as bad or as fast. that filter was getting ratty from lots and lots of washings, so i bought an even bigger one. now i have the 4" thick oval and noticed a diff over the entire RPM range, especially at the top. bla, bla, bla.

Cool earwig I might look into that. I think I just need to play with it yesterday I flew around a corner and it coughed at the exit so that tells me the float level is off and considering that I never touched that is most likely that root of some problems. As for my fan I am running a 10inch eletric fan as a pusher and a 3 core radiator(truck came with a good new one). I still need to put a bigger fan on before winter ends but for now it works great I never see more than 195 deg in traffic. Chris

i'm running a 14" Tornado electric with a GM temp switch in the water outlet. if you get the older waterpump, it won't have the fan clutch pressed on it. then you just need to go to the junk yard and snag a pulley.
